The silent couple
The silent couple
Here is the silent couple.
Here comes the silent couple.
A woman and a man together
Who never meet each other.
She is cooking.
He is reading.
They are eating
Without talking.
What a sad life is theirs!
Years have separated them
And they have lost young lovers’
Enthusiasm and passionate gestures.
They seem to be waiting
For something to come…
But they are not even waiting-
They are just hanging on.
Time is passing slowly
And occasionally
The sky casts some shadows
Over both these heroes.
They are the silent couple,
Walking one close to each other,
Deaf and dumb,
Closed to each other.
What a sad doom!
Can’t flowers bloom?
I need your voice
To sing me asleep.
I need your eyes
Like a mirror, so deep.
I need both your hands
Around my neck, or on my hips.
I need your mouth,
Give me a sip.
I need your fingers
Touching my lips.
